Legislature overrides SB33 Veto07-26-2011
Last night the North Carolina House voted to over-ride the Governor's veto of Senate Bill 33, Medical Malpractice Reform! The legislation is now law and will become effective October 1, 2011.

ACEP Slams 'Blame the Patient' Trend03-16-2011
“We are disturbed by reports coming from Massachusetts and South Carolina that suggest emergency patients are responsible for the high cost of health care. Emergency care amounts to only 3 percent of all the health care spending each year in the United States. Focusing on emergency care as a source of waste in the health care system is counterproductive, as are efforts to keep a small subset of emergency patients out of the ER."
Infant Botulism Cases Linked To Consumption of Chamomile12-31-2010
Please be aware that four cases of infant botulism, including two recent cases at CHOP in Philadelphia, have been linked to consumption of chamomile teas or a homeopathic teething product containing chamomile. An unrelated study has found botulinum spores in 7.5% of tested chamomile samples; this is suspected to be the source.
